$KATA Bridge Update: Bridge Token Wallet Explained

08 May 2026

Official Update

Key fact: the big wallet is a bridge wallet

The large $KATA wallet 0xe42D97169F67e5B1023C1fB2301546312E748b2C is the Katana Inu project multisig that holds the recovered bridge tokens on BSC and ETH.

  • It is not a whale and not an individual holder.
  • It is not an investor or private wallet — the tokens belong to the bridge.
  • The large balance exists only because ~1,000,000,000 bridge-related $KATA were recovered and secured there.

We identified a bridge-related security incident that affected $KATA liquidity. Katana Inu itself was not directly compromised — based on our current understanding, the issue came from a third-party bridge between BSC and ETH. The bridge team stopped the bridge and worked with us on the recovery. The affected tokens and the related funds have been recovered and secured as part of the resolution.

The numbers

What happens with the bridge tokens

The recovered tokens are held in the project multisig until we decide how and when to put them back into a bridge — the same bridge or another one. Around 500 million $KATA may be reserved for a future bridge setup. Subject to final verification and execution, approximately the other 500 million $KATA are intended to be removed from circulation (around 1% of the total supply). This is a one-time operational adjustment tied to the incident, not a recurring program.

Liquidity restoration

The incident removed approximately $21,947 from the $KATA liquidity pool. We are restoring that exact equivalent amount back into liquidity — a like-for-like restoration. The incident took $21,947 out, we are putting $21,947 back in.
